Frequently Asked Questions

How long will I need counseling?

The length of counseling depends on the needs of each individual client and their treatment goals.  Some clients find that they have gained the awareness, tools, and growth they need after about 10-12 sessions or so, whereas some clients need longer term support.  Counseling, including the length of counseling treatment, is always voluntary and discussed in collaboration with your therapist.

What is the cost of counseling?

You can think about the cost of counseling as similar to the cost of a medical procedure.  It may be uncomfortable, and a financial sacrifice in the short-term, but it is ultimately an investment in your long-term health and wellness.  The cost of each 50 minute counseling session is $150.00.

A “good faith estimate” will be provided to self-pay clients prior to scheduled sessions. This will provide you with an idea of what the total cost of non-emergency mental health treatment will be. You may ask for an estimate at any time during the course of treatment.

Insurance can be accepted through a third party if needed. Accepted insurance carriers include: Aetna and United Healthcare/Optum.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation can be done through the online portal or by phone.  If you cancel your appointment within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment time, you will be charged a fee equal to the full cost of a session, or $150.00.  This allows time for others to be scheduled if needed. Cancellations outside of the 24 hours will not be charged.

What should I expect for my first session?

Before your appointment, you will complete an intake questionnaire and sign a consent form to receive counseling.  You may also complete other assessments, depending on the nature of your appointment.  During your first appointment, I will discuss the consent forms with you and answer any questions that you may have.  I will explain the counseling process and what to expect, and we will explore the concerns that brought you into counseling. From there, we will work collaboratively to develop a treatment plan that fits your needs.
